The parent-daughter relationship can be complicated during the pre-teen and teenage years. Confusing cultural messages, the pressures for girls this age to become more independent, poor communication skills, competing with technology in today’s world and hormonal changes can cause parent-daughter relationships to deteriorate.

Parent-daughter counseling provides valuable support and guidance to both parties during these turbulent times.  It helps you strengthen your bonds and better navigate the troublesome teenage years.

Working together under the caring guidance of a compassionate and experienced counselor—parents and daughters can repair or enhance their relationship and develop a better appreciation of each other’s legitimate needs and expectations.

We help parents and daughters identify goals for improving their relationship.  This includes:  focusing on current strengths; identifying areas that need improvement; and developing the skills and tools needed to achieve a loving and respectful relationship that is a source of strength and joy not strife.

Together you will learn and practice better ways of communicating with each other coming from a place of love and mutual respect. The way parents and daughters interact and communicate shapes a girl’s self-esteem and often forms the basis for the way a girl will handle herself in her other relationships throughout her life.

Parents and daughters will learn how to:

  • Co-create boundaries and rules
  • Have mutually respectful communication
  • Develop critical mutual understanding

Positive, supportive parent-daughter relationships are important for family unity and peace.  Invest the time and effort in the counseling needed to help you achieve a wonderful relationship.

Building Self-Confidence in Girls

Girls will receive valuable information and tools to help them stand strong in today’s complicated girl world. Girls receive confusing messages about themselves from our culture, social media, regular media, and their peers. During this class, we empower girls to begin to question confusing or negative messages about themselves.  We examine the many different ways in which girls receive messages about who they should be and what they should look like. We provide specific strategies and tools to help them stand up for themselves and others. Together—in a supportive and confidential environment—girls have permission to open up, to question, to explore, and to practice newly learned skills. This is a valuable class for girls of all ages.

Choosing Healthy Friendships!

Girls who feel as though they are being picked-on, mistreated, or bullied will benefit greatly from this class. It is designed to help girls feel empowered, to stand up for themselves, and put a stop to bullying and mean comments. It will jump-start a girl into feeling confident in her ability and right to stand up for herself. It provides the tools needed to put an end to unacceptable treatment from mean girls, mean comments, and bullying situations. There are specific things a girl can learn to break this negative and hurtful pattern. Research has shown that if a girl does not learn how to deal with these difficult situations and difficult individuals at a young age—the pattern will likely continue. This can have life-long negative, emotional consequences for a girl.
