Assertiveness Training

  • Do you find it difficult to say no?

  • Do you often feel like a doormat?

  • Do you lack confidence when you try to express your thoughts?

Assertiveness Training

Assertiveness training is based on the principle that each individual has a right to respectfully disclose his/her thoughts, feelings, and needs to others. When we cannot express ourselves openly, we may become depressed, anxious, angry, and lack self-esteem. We learn to exercise our rights without denying the rights of others.

Benefits of Assertiveness Training

Assertiveness training involves strategies, techniques and practices. We teach assertive communication, and how to speak up for oneself and others more effectively while boosting your self-confidence.

Our trained therapists will help you define your personal goals and focus your assertiveness towards achieving those goals. Further, we will review techniques that will enable you to say no firmly yet respectfully to requests that conflict with your time. The skills we teach in assertiveness training will be of value to you both personally and professionally. Let’s review several perks:

  • Become your own boss and avoid being a puppet;
  • Have our needs met without being aggressive;
  • Learn when to accept matters and when to say ‘no’;
  • Reduce stress, and enhance self-esteem; and
  • Base decisions on facts without getting too emotional.

Positive self-talk is also essential as you reclaim your professional and personal relationships. With our training techniques, our experienced counselors will teach you to practice saying and believing positive and supportive statements, including:

  • I am a confident and strong, communicator;
  • I stand up for my beliefs; and
  • My thoughts and feelings are valuable and I deserve to be heard.
